Let’s see. (1) A corporation is a person. As a person, its leadership can spend the stockholders’ money to influence lawmakers via contributions etc. to make laws that favor the corporation, i. e. its leaders. (2) The United States is a corporation. The United States is therefore a person. As person, its leadership can spend the stockholders (citizens’) money to influence lawmakers via contributions etc. to make laws that favor the corporation, i. e. its leaders. Why it all makes perfect sense! You just have to put the parts together logically!

The latest Tea-Party screed that’s been going around is that us liberals are simply jealous of Mitt Romney.

Yeah, we’re just as jealous of HIM as the teabaggers are jealous of George Soros.

Nahh, Bush would have…though he’d never have gone near helping out the Rold Gold people.

Obama hasn’t bailed out anyone. I know how much some folks love and desire a dictator, but the bailouts were passed by Congress, mostly under Bush and some under Obama, but neither Bush nor Obama can appropriate a dime for anything. Congress holds the purse strings.

Someone conducted a test: Mountain Dew will dissolve a nail; Twinkies last forever. So will a Twinkie dissolve in a large beaker of Mountain Dew? Will the Immoveable Object yield to the Unstoppable Force? The answer was NO: even Mountain Dew could not dissolve a Twinkie! Perhaps Twinkies should be converted to other uses: as a building material, perhaps. A thick layer of Twinkies in the attic might prove very good insulation, and you could still eat them in an emergency. (You could; I could not stomach the filling even as a kid.)

I think it’s funny that Tigger thinks posting mini-thoughts that match his brain capacity are somehow impactful statements that stir up the political dialogue and illustrate the hopelessness of the progressive point of view. It’s reminds me a situation where the adults at a dinner party are having a thoughtful discussion and the child,(tigger) wanting desperately to be included, but not understanding the subject, continually interjects silly little childish thoughts and the adults say, “that’s nice honey, now go play with your toys”. Such a silly little boy!

Yes, sometimes capitalism IS harsh. But, like so many other truths, shating it doesn’t excuse any action taken in the pursuit of capitalism. Rockslides kill people, but that doesn’t excuse droping a boulder on someone. Animal attacks maim, but that doesn’t justify sicing your dog on random strangers. Wildfires destroy homes every year, however arson is still illegal, not to mention immoral. Reguardless of the system Mitt exists/works in, he still has a moral obligation to his fellow man (ESPECIALLY if he considers himself a Christian), and should be aware that there are business practices that aren’t so destructive to companies/livelihoods while still earning profits.

    “This is very obscure.”

I wouldn’t think it’s that obscure. Sure, probably most people wouldn’t be able to name Dan White or George Moscone (the mayor, who was also killed) or even Harvey Milk, but “the Twinkie Defense” has entered the idiom. “Oh, yeah, there was this guy who killed some other guys, and he claimed that too many Twinkies made him crazy. I heard about that.”

    “Fortunately he subsequently committed suicide.”

That’s a really UNFORTUNATE choice of words.

BTW that’s ‘stating’ rather than ‘shating’, and, I believe ‘siccing’

I wasn’t defending preditory practices or Romney in my post. In fact, what I said pretty much lines up with your last post. In stating that ‘capitalism is harsh’, I wasn’t trying to defend rapacious behavior. In stead, I was acknologing that it’s (the system) amoral, and isn’t set up to comfort or guard it’s participants in any way. That would be humane behavior, and we should only expect that from humanity. That’s why we need safeguards so lives and economies aren’t destroyed by an entity which only seeks capital.

As you say, the True Creamy Filling at the heart of the Dan White trial has become trapped within the Impenetrable Sponge Cake of Popular Myth.

Or is it the other way around, that the Golden Cake of Truth has been injected with a Greasy Core of Falsehood?
