That would be diva. Deva is the Buddhist term for any supernatural being. It’s just that words ending in A tend to be considered female in English (which is probably just for convenience since we don’t have gender-specific pronouns). One wonders if his tech support name was “Peggy”.

Deva (or devah) is male. Devi is female. You may be confusing the Hindu word with Italian “diva”.
