I guess if he spent 100 days a year clearing brush it would be OK?

One of the funniest news stories I have heard lately was Rachael Maddow on the subject of the President’s Christmas card.

Hurray prfesser! If all of us paid a few cents more each year, and if those who had more paid another cent more, we’d beat this deficit. Too many of us seem to have an ‘I got mine so forget you’ attitude — sad that we care so little for ourselves as a nation. AND @Bruce – of course I am afraid some thug like yourself will attempt to assassinate our duly elected President!

Backstabbing? I thought they were right up in his face with their disdain for him and his policies. Huh. Must have missed something. Here’s the beef I have with this whole “tax holiday” thing. 1) This tax cut doesn’t really help people; it’s robbing from peter to pay paul. Sure, you get 40 a week off your taxes, but what is it costing our SS fund? 40 per week x 52 weeks x 150 million working Americans = $312,000,000,000 per year. Hm. Seems like a lot of money being shorted to the program that is supposed to be funding current draws. Interesting. 2) If we are having a serious discussion, why isn’t each issue having its own bill, and its own vote? The “doc fix” shouldn’t be used as a hostage/leverage tool against the SS tax “vacation.” The unemployment extension/retention should not be used as a leverage against this tax thing either. Each issue should have its own bill/vote. Vote on its merits. Wrapping everything together is like wrapping garbage loans into MBS’s and risks bringing the whole system down. It also eliminates the ability for one side or the other to score political points by saying, “So and so voted against extending unemployment benefits” when in reality they were voting against the SS robbery that’s going on. Sigh So many things that make common sense that aren’t partisan that aren’t even considered. That’s why I want to fire ’em all (including president O) and start over from the ground up. Term limits, constitutional amendment to restrict spending except in a time of congressionally-declared war, and restricting of the ability for special interests to impact policy-making decisions. We all have bills to pay, and we all have to work within our means to pay those bills. Well, most of us do. Why should our government be any different?

Term limits don’t always work out as planned. That is how FL got its “Taj Mahal” courthouse. One local rep said it was sneaked into a bill by the longer term reps and she wasn’t aware it was in the bill until after voting for it.

Okay, images: we’ve got a president who was raised in Hawaii going “home” for vacation time. Kennebunkport, not cutting brush in Texas was "W"s real background, and he sold the “ranch” when the photo op wasn’t needed. Which “vacation spot” are Americans going to envy, and feel they’re “missing”?

People dogs don’t like are worse than jerks, because dogs “know”. Young kids and babies also know the difference. I noted in a “photo op” the press found cute and interesting thing. Kids and babies LIKE Obama. Kids and babies cried whenever they were introduced to “W”.

It isn’t about their “politics”, but who they are, inwardly, as people, and human beings. Pulling out of Iraq, which Republicans really didn’t want to do, and are now whining, versus “shock and awe”. Compare getting INTO wars, and missing your target, versus getting your target, and getting OUT OF wars. Think about it.

Honestly, I think he’s showing his frustration that conservatives criticized (and continue to do so) Bush and our own republican establishment for going against what’s in the best interests of our country, but liberals are giving Obama and his ilk a huge pass without really criticizing him. It’s the perpetual, “It’s Bush’s fault,” Or “He inhereted this mess.” Guess what? Bush inhereted 9/11, and he still turned it around inside 2 years with the help of Congress. And people say that Obama’s smarter than Bush (which… given speech patterns they are right), so why can’t he get a handle on things? Personally, I’m just as frustrated. No matter the data we provide, many liberals believe Obama can Do No Wrong™. Or… it looks that way, at any rate.

    @Munchkin

    Here we go again:

“Bush inhereted a VERY difficult hand..”

I didn’t realize a balance budget, a surplus, peace and prosperity was a difficult hand. Its already been confirmed that Bush received ample warnings as early as December of 2000 that we were gonna get hit. Quit blaming 9/11 on Clinton.

“But then Obama pooched the deficit by adding on more in 3 years than Bush did in 8.”

Obama-era choices account for about $1.7 trillion in new debt. Why do you right wingers insist on saddling Obama with War Shrub’s debt?

“…The plan only passed because they had a supermajority,”

Check the voting record. The Democrats had 58 votes and two independent votes. They did not have a super majority so right off the bat you lie. Second Arlen Specter changed sides before voting for it (technically the only Republican vote). Third why would Americans want to repeal something that expands medicare (insures 30 million Americans who can’t afford health care) and something that will give them a tax break for buying insurance?

“More and more we are finding that his “stimulus” package was actually a favor payback to his supporters.”

Yeah? Like who? While you’re busy making up an answer let me clue you in on what the Examiner found about the stimulus: Each job cost about $25,000, not $250,000. Second it created or saved 5 to 25 million jobs. A link to the CBO is also provided within my link. Or I can provide you with the actual report.

    “He had a bad hand.”

The War Shrub did not have a bad hand, he created one. He approved the deregulation of Wall Street which induced the financial crisis. He also filled every branch of gubbermint with cronies who did not keep an eye on their respective industries, which lead to Enron and Arthur Anderson among other things. He also cut funding to regulatory agencies like the Deparment of Agriculture, which is why you had Mad Cow and other diseases break out. And remember Katrina (no he did not cause the hurricane quit with the strawman) where he gutted FEMA and the slow response in New Orleans. Then there’s the two wars he got us into (and never looked back). And don’t forget the round of tax cuts for the rich which crippled our gubbermint. The list of his idiocies is long and consistent with right wing ideology, which includes expanding big gubbermint (TSA).

Complaining about vacations is idiotic, they all deserve some time off and the Secret Service and military are the ones who determine “security” measures needed. However, I don’t agree with many of the things Obama has done, mostly by being to “giving” and not fighting hard enough for truly good legislation from Congress. When it comes to “W” and America’s true values however, he failed on every account. His dad at least passed the ADA and some few other pieces of appropriate legislation, but then declared war, stupidly, on Panama. Yes, Virginia, their IS a difference!

Thank you for your measured response Fennec. I’m not saying you specifically blame Bush; I’m saying the rabid majority of liberals do without looking at the problems within their own houses. Yes, Bush screwed up many times. But so has Obama, and it’s about time he gets called on it.
