I live in Western Massachusetts. We have a rescue dog from Tennessee, who met another dog yesterday on his walk, who is a rescue dog from Alabama. What more people need to do is rescue these poor little guys and put the puppy mills out of business!!!!!
Free dogs (rescue dogs, strays, etc.) aren’t free … I’ve got 5 of them to prove it. However, not all breeders run puppy mills. Don’t buy from puppy mills and that will put them out of business. Do your homework before buying.
Many don’t know they’re buying puppy mill dogs. Don’t buy puppies online, don’t buy from pet stores. And especially don’t buy from those “quaint, quiet” Amish — who run the cruelest and most hideous puppy mills imaginable. I’ve seen it. I still have nightmares. Adopt from rescues.
I have been with a rescue group for over 3 years now. These comics certainly hit home. The world needs more foster homes, more responsible pet owners and more responsible breeders. We also need the vets to lower their rates for spay and neutering…especially in Canada.
Such an awesome strip – thank you so much!! I have spent the past 2 months working in an emergency shelter with 600 dogs rescued from a mill in Quebec Canada. The largest seizure to date in this country. This story line brings tears to my eyes. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
There ARE a lot of good people out there. I manage an e-group with about 30 or so members, and every last one of us shares our lives with rescued animals. And that’s not even the central focus of the group, although being animal lovers is pretty close to it. It’s unfortunate that we are so outnumbered by irresponsible, thoughtless folks who allow animals to breed indiscriminately. If there were more of us, or fewer of them, the problem would be moot.

Those puppy mills are nothing but concentration camps for dogs. I hope and pray more humans rescue them from this abuse.
