LuvH8: not necessarily – sailors, and pirates, actually wore eye patches over a healthy eye while on deck, when they were required to change between work on and below deck very fast. One eye stays used to the light, the other one to the darkness, and one eye is enough to do work that you know very well in a familiar space.
