Pearls Before Swine by Stephan Pastis for August 02, 2011
August 01, 2011

Transcript:
FBI agent: Hey, prison boy... the courts appointed you a lawyer for your trial. Pastis: I thought I was gonna have to represent myself. I'll represent myself. Rat: Hello... we'd like to plead moronity. Stephan in federal prison
They should be more concerned with the empty suits running this country than a cartoonist. Luckily for authority, creative people always give them a target of opportunity for their only gift, misdirection.
Didn’t know “moronity” was a legal term. How about cartoon-Pastis just walking out, since those bars are so far apart?! (—Another example of incompetent government-regulated design!)
It’s the gummint’s way to reduce the deficit! Arrest all the cartoonists, bail them at 2mill each – they only need to arrest another… seven million or so!
Let’s not forget, though, that Stephan himself was once a lawyer before he turned to cartooning. So he’d be perfectly suited to represent himself in court — and he can’t sue himself for malpractice if he loses, either!
Rat is the perfect lawyer; just about everything he says is a lie or just plain stupid; Pastis would do better representing himself LOL; rat would be better as a prosecutor LOL

The “Rat” wears no shirt or pants…just a tie. Dress code must require a tie.

Love Rat’s sunglasses. Confirms my opinion of folk who wear those things indoors as well.

The guy informing him about the lawyer should be a deputy marshal or a clerk from USDC.

Maybe Stephan can claim cruel and unusual punishment; he’s being kept in a facility with rats in it.

Is this ethical, given that Rat is (in part) (allegedly) responsible for Stephan’s arrest and incarceration?

What is that saying about representing yourself? After all, Rat is based on you and although we all think of him as ourselves, he really is Stephan.
