To think that our actions have no consequences is ridiculous. And even deniers who claim it’s all natural ought to ponder how they want humanity to survive in that new world. But if there is even a small positive change we can make – even if reducing, reusing, recycling only helps a little, we have a moral obligation to do so.

Well, it’s simple! Once the full effects of climate change kick in, and the economy of the U.S. is in ruins from all the passive-aggression on the part of the corporations and their co-dependents running it, life in the U.S. will look just like a Mad Max movie, the ultimate Neo-Con fantasy: -no central government -no mamsy-pamsy artists criticizing our way of life -no lawyers making ridiculous rules protecting minorities -most of all, NO GUN CONTROL just one big character-building environment where people prove their worth every day, the Ayn Rand way!

Why is there so much push back on the global warming problem? It’s not just the greedy rich not caring if the poor live in waste. Truly understanding the issue, one realizes that the foundation of American economic theory does not work in a closed system. This foundation is Growth. From all sides, the benchmarks used to measure economic health is constant growth. Who will explain the wheat and chessboard problem to the American people?

HQ - dihydrogen monoxide? Let’s see, that’s - WATER! And it is a “greenhouse gas” (but not, apparently, classified as such by the US Supreme Court) and it is in much higher concentrations than CO2. So how much tax money are we going to spend to prevent water evaporation around the planet and, therefore, prevent global warming?

My question is, who is getting rich on all the millions spent to lower CO2 emissions? Follow the money, folks.

News item - it was reported today that rape is “down” due to DNA testing. So, how long will it take for the ACLU to ban DNA testing on the basis of “privacy”???

Toles is one of the best cartoonists today, poppabob, and he hits a lot of topics. Do your own if you feel the need. As for “dihydrogen monoxide,” yes, indeed, that contributes to the Greenhouse Effect. This is one reason that the melting Arctic and Antarctic icecaps is such a concern. Ice reflects light and heat back into space. Liquid water absorbs heat. One of the many “tipping points” people are looking at is how much faster warming takes place when we lose more of the icecap.

What are you going to do about it, Motey? Live in a cave? It’ll happen anyway. Now, pollution_ - that is another matter entirely. Or is carbon your way to fool the rubes into backing your mandates? Just admit it and then we can talk about redistribution of wealth and power. Is that what Libs want? Why lie about it? It just turns into powerless presidential terms when you’re caught in a lie (for Dems). Better yet - fire Emanuel before it’s all lost (for the Dems).

What is “Climate Denial”? Since Global Warming is no longer the buzzword (or the observed data), we just generally throw out something about the “climate”? It is getting impenetrable anymore trying to decipher what the elites actually want us to believe about what man is doing to the climate, other than that we need to reduce emissions, i.e. cut back on Western Civilization.

wtf, interesting points about Carter’s inheritances, but you deny human nature and experience if you think that raising the taxes on the rich will ultimately have a positive effect on the economy for the poor man. The economy was bad through four years of Carter and well into Reagan’s presidency. Can’t blame Nixon for that long of a streak, sorry. It always results in less activity in the marketplace…you just have to pick your poison, and history shows that when you fatten the gov over individuals, people become more reliant on the gov, which equals less freedom.

Pup (“manna and quail?”) - Funny - we can end a war, cure diseases, improve the world – but we can’t battle global warming? No, it isn’t going to just “happen anyway,” that’s the whole point. We’ve contributed to global climate change. Therefore, we can contribute to changing it. And pollution is one of the things we can address, too, while we’re at it, since some kinds of pollution make it worse, too. Quit calling me a liar, you twit. I’m not lying, I’m citing evidence. I have no interest in redistributing power or wealth. Frankly, what I am more interested in is building up everyone’s wealth. Currently it is flowing from the poor to the rich. But you’d call that “earning.”

HQ and and mutt are forgetting two things when it comes to fair tax: corporations have special tax breaks. So they won’t be paying the “fair tax” that you guys are clamoring for. Also rich guys won’t be paying that income tax anyway. Their income comes from capital gains, which can be anywhere from 0% to 15%. The only thing that fair tax is going to do is kill off social security and medicare.

Oh wait…that’s what you guys want. My bad. YEAH! FAIR TAX (smirk).
