If the strip were done today, she’d probably be slapping him with a harassment suit. Anyone else remember a much later story arc in Peanuts where Rerun was charged with harassment after he jokingly asked a female classmate to go to Paris with him? I think it was featured in one of the Peanuts television specials.
That IS being hypocritical, though. She’d jump at any excuse to touch Schroeder (even though he’s made it plain that he can’t stand her), and that’s OK, but any boy who offers to massage her arm for therapy is just a lecherous pervert who’s only looking for an excuse to touch her inappropriately? That’s not only hypocritcal, it’s sexist AND a double standard. Buy a clue, Lucy — that’s NOT what feminism is supposed to stand for!
