Joan: VAL! Mom's posting her photos from Thailand on Spacebook!
Joan: There's one of her on an elephant!
Joan: Go online and LOOK!
Val: I don't DO Spacebook.
Val: I suppose it's too much to hope for a postcard.
Joan: OOH! MONKEYS!
Val should be on “Spacebook” if for no other reason than to know what her children are doing. It’s pretty sad to see technologically advanced children with parents who are not. That is just asking for trouble. Val should be able to read/send texts so she can check up on what her kids are reading/sending and she should be able to log into social networking sites for the same reason.
surely you jest, @werew0lfe. I just did click thru all 15 individual pages. I haven’t yet got involved in facebook, but just reading those pages showed me how utterly TRIVIAL all this is.
On the other hand, some technology or other (I didn’t notice which) allowed me to see my grand-nephew (my nephew’s son) on the computer, live and moving around, in real-time. Since I don’t expect to be able to do that for a very long time, if ever (he’s in Beijing), I did appreciate that feature. (He’s 2 or 3 years old, and I have only ever seen photos of him.)
Actually postcards make a good travel diary. When I go somewhere special that sells postcards, I buy one and on the back write the date and what I did. It’s fun to look back and remember trips that way.

I love going through old letters and postcards. It’s a shame they’re going the way of the telegraph. Oh, and I’m under 40.

EBay has people who sell old postcards…some of them are lovely. But, today is today….glad for the pictures and to know Mom is OK.

People still buy postcards, or they wouldn’t be selling them at the mall.

Recently a friend returned from overseas (a 3 hour plane trip away). Her postcard turned up 3 weeks after she got back. So much for postcards!

What’s wrong with sending Val emails with those pictures attached?
