GM and Chrysler are burdened with them because they offered their workers lower raises in exchange for better retirement benefits. Isn’t it funny how management is never responsible for running companies into the ground?
That’s one of the unwritten rules of public discourse - management is responsible only for the successes, it blames the failures on someone else. Unions are just the most convenient targets.
Now, I’m not saying unions never did anything wrong - just not everything that ever went wrong. GM and Chrysler having financial woes? Blame the UAW!
The more you look at this, the funnier it is. Think of the things that could have been said but Mike found a suitable (no pun intended) way of showing where the money is.
Orrin Hatch is one of the strongest opponents of health care reform.
“Hatch has received nearly $1.3 million from the employees and political action committees of drug and health products companies since 1989, making the industry his largest contributor, according to data compiled by the non-partisan Center for Responsive Politics.”
Of course health care reform is attacked by these vampires that feed off people’s illness. It’s been going on for decades but the time is now for reform.

Agree, and nothing will be improved because the group that can make a difference don’t want to cut off their income.
