Agree with above, Democrats then thought anyone who interfered with a Communist takeover of a country was on a moral par with an enslaver. The Democrats had even passed a law to prohibit such actions by the President. Their goal was always to make the world safe for expansion of totalitarianism – thus the abandonment of S Vietnam, Iran, most of Latin America. Fortunately today’s Democrats would never enable the Muslim brotherhood in Egypt, or abandon an emerging democracy in Iraq, or permit a nuclear-armed Iran.
