And an old proverb from India says something like, “He who rides a tiger cannot dismount.” (i.e., sometimes it is more dangerous to stop doing a dangerous thing than it is to continue doing it.) Hobbes is a Terrific Tiger – wherever he came from. :-)
Here in Durban, South Africa, the whole nation, almost, has been watching the Comrades’ Marathon. More than 19,000 entrants in probably the most gruelling road race in the world. Not over yet.
We have the big Ski to Sea Race today, with 500 teams and 7 members per team, we have a lot of competitors. The skiers are already up at the Mt. Baker Ski area awaiting the start. I don’t know if there is a team Tiger, but wouldn’t be surprised.
were is the first tiger ? if i remember right, calvin caught hobbes with a tuna sandwhich to begin with. or was hobbes hiding from calvin for 4 or 5 years?
Hi TeresaI agree that we don’t want to lose the meaning of Memorial Day, but I also see the cookouts and parties as a chance to enjoy the freedom that so many died to preserve. I think the best way to celebrate Memorial Day is to attend a ceremony honoring veterans or visit the cemetery in the morning, and then use the rest of the day to enjoy our freedom with friends or family.
