Morning all, She’s like a pooch, sniffing along a trail, taking in all the clues, until she sees a rabbit and takes off after it.

Speaking of pooches, I picked up this Brownish-White Lab pup just yesterday. She’s at my side, sitting on the couch with me and my laptop as I make my comment.

I can’t believe she didn’t hear the noise the car made when it went into the ditch! We’ve had four cars in the ditch since we’ve lived here. There’s a big hill on the road by our drive that goes down to the covered bridge below us or otherwise you can follow the curve out to the main road. The drivers go to fast coming down the hill and panic and go into the ditch. One car we heard ditch it but the other three we just found sitting sideways when we came home at night. It’s still an interesting site for us, the police, tow truck driver, and the neighbors who get to take pictures.

Sure took Mom a long time to realize that something was amiss. With all of Calvin’s hysterics, and knowing him as well as she does, she might have suspected sooner that he was up to something.

Congratulations on the new puppy, deepfrieddrippingrag.

    Good morning everyone:

In the grand scheme of things this has probably taken place in a matter of seconds or a minute or two. Speaking from Calvin’s perspective I was like that as a child. My mom liked to tell the story of how at age 3 I, in one day, first, broke my sister’s glasses, then went in the bathroom and poured a full box of Tide in the bath tub and turned on the water. While she was cleaning up the bubbles, I went in the kitchen and poured salt all over her freshly frosted cake. So Mom can’t always be aware of what a young child is doing. However, in this case, the garage door should have been closed and locked and required a key to open, which would have prevented Calvin from being able to move the car in the first place.

TexasSoldier - Welcome to the forum. I don’t post here at C&H as often as I do in others, but I do read the comments here every day. So, tell us. Are you stationed at Fort Hood? Have you been to Iraq? Are you a native Texan? I was born in Houston and lived in Texas all my life. Right now I’m living in Southeast Texas, north of Beaumont.

Mom! You’re OK! How’d you crash the car? Me and Hobbes were just looking at it and— I cannot tell a lie, Hobbes did it’ I ran and tried to stop it, but it was so big.Boohooohoo I thought you got hurt. I love you Mom. Capt Spiff had to move it to save us from 6 eyed space aliens. Are you sure you didn’t leave it there last night? Mom, this is going to make you laugh. Oh, Dad didn’t tell you about that? I know you’re mad Mom so I’ll leave you alone. Are you sure you didn’t leave it there? Just think. Dad will buy you a NEW car. Have you considered treatment for your substance abuse? Dad did sneak out this morning.

Proper use of words like these allowed me to live till my seventh birthday. They can help Calvin too.

Remember how Mom cared for Calvin when he was sick? She’s scared that something has happened to Calvin when the car backed into the ravine. At least we know Calvin and Hobbes are okay and just a few blocks away.

deepfrieddrippingrag, enjoy the new puppy! Puppies are a lot like babies, they are so cute when they are small. But if you feed them, they get bigger, and poop a lot.

cleo sometimes a pet just walks into your life, literally! I’ve had at least 3 dogs and 2 cats walk into my life. They are there, you are there, you can’t send them back out into the street so… . Maybe you won’t have to decide, maybe an animal will decide for you! :-D

Mom is so scared not knowing if Calvin is in the car and hurt, then watch out.

Hey deepfried…. how old is that little girl you have? My daughter brought one home a boy Golden Retriever 7 or 8 weeks old and not ready to leave mommy yet. That puppy is a bitter and every two hours bathroom break. Here in KS sellers of puppies have to be older the 8 weeks to sell. So far she has been striking out. She has a female Golden Retriever and wanting a playmate that both will accept. Her current one is 3 years old. So far pretty smart girl except she plays keep away. One throws balls she keeps away.

A local farmer owned the field off the end of a T intersection, and cars used to regularly run off the end of the road into his field, tearing up his fence, wrecking some of his crops and all. He got tired of the hassle, and asked the county (the road’s owner) to put in rumble strips. “That’s not possible; it costs too much, it’s not needed…”

Then a county commissioner’s kid ran his car off the road.

The farmer hauled it deeper into his land, and said,”Now let’s talk.”

Within two weeks, there were rumble strips, and the car was returned. It didn’t end the problem of cars in the field, but it sure cut down the frequency.
