Theories and stories of aliens having underwater bases predate anything recent that fox news may say, get out your bubble or basements. Nothing political just pointing out that there are other sources of this theory.
A while back I saw a (Canadian) movie that dealt with a family, one member of which actually did see Bigfoot years previously. The family tradition then became to contrive obviously-fake Bigfoot “sightings” in order to convince the public that the whole thing was a hoax, so that the real Bigfoots (Bigfeet?) could go about their lives quietly without being hunted.
