My brother used to send a dollar to the ones that would send you return address labels. That way he would end up getting plenty of free return address labels he could use on his own mail.
I started a couple of years ago donating to 2 organizations. Now, I get about 30 different solicitations per month. I assume the original 2 orgs. sold my info. I just throw the envelopes in a box and burn them in my cast iron stove that heats my garage. I have since gone local in my donations. If I can’t meet a real person to give the donation to: it doesn’t happen.
I had a friend who would write “return to sender/ addressee unknown” on the envelope or package and drop it in the mailbox without opening that junk. His idea was it would cost them double
My donations grow right along as my life grows better, bringing with it an increase in bulk mail including from the charity I volunteer for. If they would keep up with the times, they would bring in far more than I could donate. Happy trails!
If they supply an envelope I write on the donation slip to remove my address from their list. Sometimes I have to do it a couple of times but it works. I don’t get requests for donations very often any more. When I do it’s from new charities I have received requests from before.

Like I said before: donate to a thrift store. And I don’t mean Goodwill!

Our local branch of the Humane Society has a thrift store, that’s where our donations go.
