I was told that before I as born, when Mother’s Day came around, my mother would keep to herself and sometimes cry, because she wanted children (like all her sisters had), but my father was absolutely opposed to any kids. It didn’t help that her mother-in-law demanded to be treated like a queen on Mother’s Day. They were married for 12 years before I came along, so after that, and with my brother arriving 5 years later, she reveled in the celebration.
