**I was cruisin’ in my Stingray late one night, When an XKE pulled up on the right He rolled down the window of his shiny new Jag, And challenged me then and there to a drag

I said “You’re on buddy – my mill’s running fine, Let’s come off the line now at Sunset and Vine But I’ll go you one better, if you’ve got the nerve, Let’s race all the way – to Shika’s Curve”

(Shika’s Curve) is no place to play (Shika’s Curve) you’d best keep away (Shika’s Curve) I can hear ‘em say: “Won’t come back from Shika’s Curve”

The street was deserted late Friday night; We were buggin’ each other while we sat out the light We both popped the clutch when the light turned green, You shoulda heard the whine from my screamin’ machine!

I flew past La Brea, Schwab’s and Crescent Heights, And all the Jag could see were my six taillights He passed me at Doheny then I started to swerve, But I pulled her out and there we were - at Shika’s Curve

(Shika’s Curve) is no place to play (Shika’s Curve… [sounds of skids and crashes] )

(Spoken): “Well, the last thing I remember, Doc, I started to swerve And then I saw the Jag slide into the curve I know I’ll never forget that horrible sight, I guess I found out for myself that everyone was right”

    Won’t come back from Shika’s Curve…

(Shika’s Curve) is no place to play (Shika’s Curve) you’d best keep away (Shika’s Curve) I can hear ‘em say: “Won’t come back from Shika’s Curve”

(Shika’s Curve) is no place to play (Shika’s Curve) you’d best keep away (Shika’s Curve) I can hear ‘em say: “Won’t come back from Shika’s Curve” (fade)**

    Dangerous Shika Curves ahead!! (Whistles)

Pajamas for lounging on a cool day would be okay, because they would be loose fitting and comfortable, but never for sleeping. Sleeping in anything but my birthday suit would be ridiculous. Anytime I have ever tried to wear a garment to bed (think years ago), it was always prone to getting wrapped up in a tight uncomfortable noose around the body. Not for me, ever again.

I just finished the toons and lunch, and I want to be outside so bad I can taste it!! Only 6 more years and I can retire from work, but I’ll still be too young for Social Security. My husband retired this last year and I’m soooo jealous!

Forget PJs, I can’t even get my husband into a swimsuit! He doesn’t like to swim anywhere that’s not clothing optional.

I need to come up with a name for the hubs, like Doc has wildcheetah for his girlfriend.

Doc I left you a message at Nest Heads Terry I missed your breakfast - you were up late! Hash browns and salsa with Doc’s coffee - thanks! Owlsly Congratulations on the new job! Tabby - Excedrin makes an over-the-counter migraine medicine. That might help. Too bad you can’t eat, or I’d suggest some caffeine and/or salt. But a cool, dark, quiet place to lie down is the best advice I can offer for a migraine.

@shika, ‘round hereabouts, there used to be a nightclub (later restaurant) called “The Curve”, because it was in the middle of a curve in the road…

To bad: after a few later reincarnations, it burned down, and is now defunct.

Maybe we could call the spot “Shika’s curve”??

Just saw your “fun” of a couple of days ago–ouch!

I have some of that same problem, especially when I’m coming down with a cold or something. They still haven’t a clue as to what causes it, but I suspect dehydration, possibly with wacky electrolytes. So I’m careful now to take more salt on occasion, and eat bananas, spinach, brocolli, beans, etc, and drink fruit juices (for the potassium). Seems to help somewhat.

    Hope someone diagnoses you…

Maybe it’ll come to me. At 2:24 a.m. tonight.

And I’ll have to wake everybody up to let them know.

No, actually, hmmm, what’s in the pantry?

How about a classic American breakfast: some fresh-baked coffeecake (might not be strong enough to stand up to doc’s coffee), plus eggs over easy (or your choice, if you’re willing to cook ‘em), toast and jam, fresh squeezed orange juice, and coffee to linger over the paper with.

    Is that better?

Carmy while i don’t have a machete, i do have what my coworkers refer to as a “shank” (a prison knife, usually home made). it’s a piece of heavy gauge food grade stainless steel that i took out of a scrap bin and shaped into a knife for cutting oranges back about 15 years ago when i worked in a sheet metal shop. it’s lasted surprisingly well.

Oh gosh, I had completely forgotten. What a horrible memory. I still remember everything I did that morning and the people that I talked to. The first person who called was a very troubled friend of mine who had just moved to Canada. In just a few months he would commit suicide. That whole time period is so sad.

cleo & Terry i work steady afternoons and don’t normally get up before 10 am. that morning my mother called me to get out of bed and watch CNN as “a plane had hit the world trade center.” at the time, it was thought to have been an accident - since it was the first. i stayed glued to the TV for hours as that dreadful day unfolded. later, some of my coworkers went to Buffalo to help out in a company warehouse near there so that their employees could go help out in NYC (i work for a medical supplies company). in many ways, i think it brought our two countries a bit closer together, even though the border isn’t as open as it used to be.
