At some point the majority of Republicans are going to have to wake up the the fact that Trump has damaged the party more than any other person in history. Nixon at least has the common sense and dignity to step down when he was suspected of Watergate. It was never actually proven that he knew about it. And, actually, if he had been holding the flashlight, it was nothing compared to what Trump has done.
That was the character of the Republican party back when it could be respected. They would never have supported a person who committed treason on national TV. And, all the witnesses against Trump are Republicans. There is still a solid core of integrity within the party. Eventually, they are going to repudiate Trump, and at that point Nikki could stand out as the person who had the courage to stand for the conservative principles of the party, but against the person who dragged them through the mud. Not sure the republicans will not eventually consider her a hero.
Probably could not do the toon in a PG way, but I don’t envision the entire GOP in the clamp…just the part that it values quite highly and would make it very cooperative.
