My mother called one day to ask how hard it was raining (we lived 600 miles apart). I told her it wasn’t raining at my house and she began to argue with me, saying a certain tv channel showed rain in my town. I told her I was standing outside under clear skies and sun, but she insisted the TV weather showed rain. I’m not certain she ever fully believed me.
My app is a heck of a lot more accurate than a local news station. A few years ago I lived a couple of blocks away from it and one morning they were announcing that the weather system was going to miss us. Looking outside my window it was raining heavily. I called the station and asked the receptionist if they had any windows there, to which she answered no. I suggested their weather man walk outside to see what’s really happening. Almost 15 minutes later I hear him on the radio retracting his forecast and thanking a listener for the heads up. He then went into an explanation about how they get their forecasts from the National Weather Service. Not long after most of the stations in my area had their own Doppler Radar setups. They’re better but still not as accurate.

My husband. If I say it’s sunny he has to check his apps – even if the sun is in his eyes!

Sort of like the people you hear about that follow their GPS instructions right off the road.
