Back on Thanksgiving Day November 28, 1895 the Chicago Times-Herald held the first auto race in the U.S. Payne’s comic lamented the loud noise from race car engines and exhaust and missing the heavenly sound of thundering hooves of the horse. Yes, Martha, he is that old.
Try Googling. We already have electric cars that can go 500 miles. Electric 500 auto races are sure to be coming soon, if they are not being run already.
Stop worrying, Payne. Daytona will feature gas-powered cars for the foreseeable future. Same as how the Kentucky Derby still features horses, even though equine-powered transport has largely receded from the economic scene.
Biden has realized that he has no chance of getting re-elected with his current EV quotas , so he’s changing his directives to loosen the standards. I don’t see him winning unless he reverses the almost 100 EOs he issued reversing Trump’s boder security policies.
A friend of mine, reflecting this year’s Daytona, said that NASCAR might just as well have scheduled a demolition derby. I told him his time would have been better spent watching the All Stars (so-called) Championship Game Sunday and re-reading Lao Tzu on Monday. (The latter will come in handy if Trump wins in November.)
If you truly believe in man made climate change and fossil fuels are responsible then get rid of auto racing, tractor pulls, destruction derbies, ATVs, power boats, riding lawn mowers, gas and charcoal BBQs, propane outdoor heaters, gas heated swimming pools, scented candles, patio tiki lamps, wood and gas burning fireplaces, gas stoves and water heaters, autos more than 20 years old, cruise ships, backyard trash burning, monster trucks, and anything else that uses fossil fuels thats only convenient or entertaining.

And cobwebs on the electric cars on the car lots across the USA. Not even the blue clueless really buy them.
