    I don’t identify as a Democrat as much as a Non-Republican.

It’s difficult if not impossible to encompass all political views within the parties.

The biggest problem is that people either are so apathetic that they reflexively vote for one party or the other… or they are so bound by ideology that pragmatic concerns don’t seep through.

The parties are simply a reflection of various interest groups. Their goals are the goals of their constituents. Perhaps we’d be better off with multiple parties that represent specific groups more accurately, but the result would still be competition and contention.

    That’s democracy, kids!

I think this is a myth, each tells themselves to find some comfort.

One big problem is the Two Party System. I you find you don’t reasonably identify with either one, you’re always voting for one that doesn’t represent your views. This is my problem. If it wasn’t for the fact that the Republican Party has gone completely off the rails, voting would be a very difficult decision. As it is, I’m just depressed. I’m not in the middle, I just have no real representation.

We need to get beyond this two party, binary decision form of political structure. We should have 5 to 7 parties: Extreme conservative, moderate conservative, moderate progressive, extreme progressive, the Green, Libertarian, and whatever flavor or topic attracts enough people to develop into a viable group.

We, the middle, the independents could then lean toward one or more or away from one or more and the radicals who control the primaries, and currently the legislatures would lose power as they wander too far off the track (like the party I currently call RINO).

If you all would stop voting for lying fascist republicans this world would be a better place.

Don’t kid yourself. There are quite a few on both sides who claim to be independent, but almost always vote for the same side.

Ann Coulter didn’t mince her words when asked what former president Donald Trump could do to “help us take America back.”

“Maybe he could die?” she wrote on X.

Modern Republicans are (at best) left leaning Democrats from 50 years ago. Modern Democrats are socialists. That’s why I’m Libertarian. More government isn’t the answer, no matter what spin you put on it first.

I identify as Republican so I can vote in their primary. No way I would vote for Niki or Trump in the general, but I will vote for Nikki to make her seem viable, with the objective of splitting the party even further and giving the Democrats the White House.

This is soooooo funny. I have been using a broom to bang my ceiling because I had a rat infestation. I totally relate to this one. Cost me $2000 that really hurt the budget.

Wrong. 40% are Democrats. Maybe 30% are Republicans.

Smellvis Trump ain’t nothing but a hound dog, whining all the time.

Elvis presley left fame and went into the military to serve his county, he did not use ‘bone spurs’ as an excuse to get out of duty.

It is either dishonest or misinformed to equate the Republican and Democratic parties, as far as honesty goes. A person who runs for office has to choose. In reality, the choice will probably be for the party that will support them.. The Republicans vote and work for the rich, working on the notion that giving rich folks money will cause it to “trickle down” and improve the whole society. At least that’s what they say. I don’t think they really believe it themselves, and it has never worked anywhere it has been tried. And, the Democratic party represents the middle class, and votes that way in congress. Granted, they are not doing a terrific job, largely because the Republicans are working really hard to prevent them from doing any good, but they are at least trying. Both parties are going to choose to throw their ample support behind the candidate that at least says they agree with the goals that make up the party platform.

There are a lot more middle class voters than rich ones, so the Republicans can only win if they keep as many people from voting as possible and the rest confused enough to vote against their own best interests. That requires a lot of cheating and lying.Consequently, the Democrats lie less and are more honorable than Republicans, because they can be. Not that that’s a very high bar.

Unfortunately, without the infrastructure of the party, or being very, very rich it’s the only realistic way for candidates to run with hope of getting elected. A system that limits the campaign season and have publicly funded candidates (I believe some countries do this) might be worth considering… but who in power would vote for that?

No one should be recording party affiliation when registering voters. Take a membership in your party if you want to vote on policy and in the primaries.
