I wonder how many of history’s bad decisions could be accurately annotated with the phrase “… and then the lads got liquored up…”

Rather than being shot for bringing bad news, the bringer of bad news also brought shooters.

Well considering this could go either way, or no way at all. Is it really funny? It might be funny is some sense (of the word)?

ID is not a metaphor for the U.S. At least, not this time. The U.S. economy is very healthy.

“The Commerce Department reported that the economy continued to grow at a healthy pace at the end of 2023, exceeding economists’ expectations. The gross domestic product grew at an annual rate of 3.3 percent in the third quarter. For all of 2023, growth was a healthy 2.5 percent.” —NBC

“The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed above 38,000 for the first time on Monday, setting a record high and capping a steady rise.” — ABC

“A series of positive economic data releases this week combined to suggest that the U.S. economy is performing exceptionally well, with stronger than expected growth, low unemployment, rising wages and falling inflation.” —VOA

“The US Federal Reserve’s preferred measure of inflation fell sharply last month.” —The Times
