The Babe hit just 14 home runs while in the game as a pitcher.

There was a reason The Bambino didn’t play outfield between starts, though.

“Cy”(note the oldie uniform) is probably Cy Williams—-before Ruth came along HE was the premier home run hitter in baseball—Philadelphia Phillies in the 1910’s.

I don’t remember if it was Curt Gowdy or Mel Allen who used the phrase, “He’s a goooood hittin’ pitcher” when certain pitchers were up to bat.

A pitcher being a good hitter always brings me back to listening to a game in summer 1963, when Warren Spahn hit a home run against the SF Giants. Being a Giants fan, and only 10 years old, I was aghast and couldn’t understand how that could happen!
