Ahh.. yes 1996, way before grocery store flowers. Today you can buy a dozen roses for about $25. Box of good chocolates are ~$30. But remember 1996 dollars were worth a lot more than today. 1997 Chevy Malibu $16,400 vs $25,100 today.
When I was a kid (maybe 9 or 10) I stood outside a flower shop for about 20 minutes getting up the nerve to go inside to buy my mom some flowers. Roses were what I had in mind. I finally got up the nerve and went in, and the very nice lady helped me decide i couldn’t afford roses, but I did get my mom 4 carnations ($1.00 worth I think which was a lot of money then especially for a kid with a 25 cent a week allowance). Mom loved them (as mom’s would of course.). Happy Mother’s Day mom and RIP.
