It has been observed that #45 more resembles Mussolini than Hitler in a number of ways. For example, Mussolini used lies to claim he made the trains run on time: they didn’t, so he simply declared that they did and refused to admit otherwise.

The rhetorical style is more Mussolini’s than Hitler’s, though Ivana has said there was a book of Hitler’s speeches by the bed that he would read, and he has come very close on quotations every once in a while, not to mention using the “Big Lie” technique.

Also, let’s not forget that Hitler and Mussolini served in their respective armies, and Hitler was a deservedly decorated war hero. #45 declared that venereal disease was his Viet Nam and got faked doctor’s reports to get out of serving – and referred to those who did as “suckers.”
