Great win, from what everyone at the event seemed to have thought this has to be an epic upset like the ’69 Mets going from worst to first or Nameth and the Jets winning the Super Bowl. Congrats to Heart and Dean!
I’d be a little annoyed at the lack of comedy in them just winning, but I do like that Heart is the only one you can really see in the last panel. That’s kinda funny.
Three-legged races are an interesting exercise in teamwork. In grade school, everyone naturally wants to team up with the fastest person, and that doesn’t always work out well.
But – the crease in Heart’s pants is going the wrong way. It makes it look like her right leg is in front, instead of her left, which is the one next to Dean. Pretty sure you have to have the middle legs tied together!

They didn’t have laurels to rest on. And, they had a certain motivation in showing younger classes that “Size matters not.” Verrry determined kids!!!

Hmmmm… looks like Heart and Dean’s outside legs were tied together. Fortunately, this is only a cartoon and it doesn’t matter.

Was this the actual race? Or Dean’s/Heart’s imagination just before “Go!”.

If it is the actual race, good for them. It’s kinda like a throwback to the early days of their youth when they did everything together.
