I’m glad to see that Republicans suddenly care about gun control, although I see that it only applies if it is a Democrat (in the same way an African American open carrying risks getting shot by police while European Americans are encouraged to open carry).

If Hunter Biden has broken the law, he should face consequences commensurate with what he did and be treated the same way as anyone else in the same situation.

The fact is, however, that the only wrongdoing he has credibly been accused of — NONE OF WHICH REMOTELY INVOLVED HIS FATHER — was that, while in the throes of addiction, he failed to pay his taxes (he has since paid all taxes and penalties) and he lied about being a drug addict when buying a firearm that he never loaded, never used in an underlying crime and which he only owned for ELEVEN DAYS before his sister-in-law disposed of it because she was afraid that, desponded over his addiction, he had bought it to kill himself.

This combination of violations routinely pleads out for fines and probation, but no jail time. A fairly routine plea deal was fully agreed on, a very experienced TRUMP-APPOINTED PROSECUTOR (held over by Biden to avoid even the appearance of interference, which of course never stops the Republicans from falsely claiming it) and Biden’s very experienced, highly-qualified defense attorney Abbe Lowell was, if anything, MORE HARSH than other routine plea deals in such situations, and only after the REPUBLICAN (Trump-appointed) prosecutor caved to POLITICAL pressure from Republicans who he will depend on for any future appointments.

Kid Rock and Ted Nugent, GOP heroes, own multiple weapons, including AR15s, and both flaunt drug use.

If this guy’s name were, say, Hunter Jones, would anyone give a rip? In particular, would the prosecution be treating him like the Nazi who pushed the Zyklon-B button at Auschwitz?

Proving again that there is NO LAW that they will not twist when they want it to apply to someone else, not even the 2nd Amendment.

Hunter is weak, a drug addled moron. This is why the GOP is squeezing his boys in a vise to give up “The Big Guy” to stay out of prison. The gun charge is 3 felonies that could get Hunter real hard time, if he flips on dear old dad maybe none. We don’t want the smart guy, we want the big guy.

If your only reason for having a gun is daring the government to take it away from you, you need a new hobby.

This seeming discrepancy in firearms policy is, fortunately, a virtual no-brainer for MAGA GOP.

The most fervent party loyalists are also fervently Christian.

Everyone fervently Christian already possesses the equivalent of multiple Master’s degrees, and no small percentage of them a PhD. or two, in Post Hoc Biblical Rationalization/Justification.

This is a skill readily transferable to any of the others on the list of conservatives socio/economic/political ideological faith belief commitments.

So this most recent of all the many negative HB events is, for the vast majority of Republicans, easily and virtually instantly processed — in their own reality-distorting way, that is. Without so much as a momentary hiccup, RWNJ MAGA will just keep on a’truckin’ and spouting off with their glaringly and obviously — to everyone but themselves — contradictory nonsense.

It’s not gun control it enforcing existing laws, no one is against enforcing existing reasonable gun laws

That reminds me of the beginning of MiB, when Edgar says, “You can have my gun when you pry it from my cold dead fingers.”

Bug: Your proposal is acceptable. [Grabs Edgar, tears off his skin]

The Republicans foaming at the mouth about Hunter and guns is pure hypocrisy. They encourage murder with the ridiculous NRA-sponsored laws about guns. The NRA is about 1 thing. Selling more guns, regardless of the consequences. The NRA literally has no morals whatsoever. Why don’t the Conservative Evangelical “Christians” oppose the mass selling of guns. I guess that following the actual teachings of Jesus is just too Christian for them

We also gotta give the guy some slack. His 1st name is Hunter. What the heck were they thinking when the Bidens named him Hunter.
