Building furniture in mid-air is best left to those with experience. I have a wall of clamps for just this sort of daredevil activity.

Decades ago I followed the instructions for assembling my daughter’s Christmas present. The 1/2 hr. job, had I not used the instructions, took 2+ hours. I very seldom use the included assembly instruct. anymore.
Ah let him have his little projects, as long as he’s not destroying the house. Eventually he’ll get it.
