NATIONAL HOUSEPLANT APPRECIATION DAY. I do appreciate my house plants!
SAVE THE EAGLES DAY
NATIONAL SHOP FOR TRAVEL DAY. I am planning a travel day in August (actually 2 days. Starting out on August 25th, with a layover at my brother Paul’s place in Indiana for the night, then to Ohio the next morning). Going to Ohio with a couple brothers and my sister. One of our cousins is arranging a memorial service for our cousin, Becky, who died last month. Then we are going to have a family reunion lunch. That will be on the 26th. If we’re not too tired, we’ll go all the way home after the reunion. Otherwise, we’ll spend a second night with Paul. I’m looking forward most of all to seeing my Aunt Lois, who will be 97 years old. But I think it’s too early to shop for me travel day. Besides, I don’t need to buy anything for the trip.
From yesterday’s comments – Egrayjames said, “My rhubarb is ready to pick. I prefer making a sauce with it, rather than a pie.” I make most, if not all of my rhubarb into sauce too. It’s my favorite way to enjoy it. I’ve tried other things – rhubarb cake, rhubarb crisp and strawberry/rhubarb jam (I haven’t done pie), but I still like it best as sauce. I’ve picked mine twice so far this year.
The thunderstorm last night in the NYC area did the trick! I witnessed a yellow sun this morning and blue sky with a tinge of haze. MUCH improved. It is hazier as the day goes on, coolish but quite pleasant.
Uh, guys, aren’t you forgetting someone? Better get Oliver out of there before someone buys him. (And someone very well could. I mean, who could resist such a cutie?) On another note, saw four rabbits, ten robins, a swallow, two juncos, and a Wilson’s warbler while out walking today.

Well THAT didn’t work. Maybe, one by one, all 10 cats will get a turn in the window.
