The National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration announced that the carbon dioxide level measured in May in Hawaii averaged 424 parts per million. That’s 3 parts per million more than last year’s May average and 51% higher than pre-industrial levels of 280 ppm. It is one of the largest annual May-to-May increases in carbon dioxide levels on record, behind only 2016 and 2019, which had jumps of 3.7 and 3.4 parts per million.
Back in the day, on the Kankamangus (sp?) Highway across New Hampshire there was a combo restaurant and gas station with the sign: EAT HERE AND GET GAS I stopped for gas, and a rest room break. The guy pumping gas (Remember when they did that?) said the restrooms were on the side of the building, but the keys to the doors were just behind the front door. I looked behind the front door and there were two oars – (See, I’m staying on message!) – one painted pink and one painted blue – each had a eyelet screwed into the handle end – with a key. A bit cumbersome to “operate” – but I had to admire the thinking – no one ever walks off with the key!

Look harder?
I get it I guess, it’s always a pain trying to find stuff that’s been packed away for six months.
Heading into the summer days of nothing much going on besides watering the garden.

He also forgot how to row a boat. He’s backwards but the shovels are pointed right though.

This would be a Vermont summer, I guess, but not, say, an Arizona summer.

With a larger surface area, they’d work better than paddles, if he’s strong enough to pull them.

If you stick to “a place for everything and everything in its place”, then you don’t have this problem.

Danziger at his best – a true Vermonter, capturing the spirit of the rural north.
