In the Italian version of “celebrity” reality shows there are celebrities who are unknown even to their parents.

Most of those on ‘reality’ shows are has beens who never were.

There is a trade-off. A person who thinks he is special enough to have a show about him might be lacking in other ways. Compassion and empathy come to mind. Brutus, let others have their shows, and keep what it is that makes you a decent human being.

I agree completely, I love to see regular people on game shows. When they have celebrities…I never watch!

Dumped cable years ago. I’ll watch over the air broadcast news until the ‘newscasters’ begin trying to revive their failed comedy careers, unless there is an important story, then I’ll bear with their nonsense.

The Life of Brutus

I wouldn’t watch either way. I would prefer to escape reality for a few hours.

Instead of a Celebrity Reality Show, maybe someone can produce a daily comic strip about you and your family Brutus. I’d bet that strip would be very popular and have a long run.

An evening with the Thornapples: tonight, Brutus looses the remote while Gladys burns the supper.

TV will soon be relegated into oblivion. Personal devices, envied by Dick Tracey, are replacing the more traditional entertainment option.

Better still, a lot fewer “reality shows”.

You have a very valid point, Brutus. Reality shows should be about the real people who struggle in the real world.

I agree with Brutus, there are way too many celebrities in general. What concerns me is the fact so many people allow a “celebrity” to do their thinking for them; everything from buying a particular product, tho how and what to think, how to vote and everything in between.

No, Brutus, the only time TV has plain, old, boring regular people on is when it’s a sitcom. And I vote you to be the star of the show.

I have never watched a reality show. Curses on the writers’ strike that spawned them. Reality shows are cheap to make. Brutus could watch something else since he doesn’t like them. Or take Kewpie outside for a nice long walk.

It would definitely be different. However, if you see how many of us follow Brutus, there might just be a niche…..

Reality shows started with a writers strike in the early to mid 1980’s. Survivor was the first one.

Tsk Tsk Tsk. Everybody and their mother these days!

It amazes me people still watch “reality” tv. It’s anything, but reality.

That certainly has some merit, it make our lives seem better by comparison.

I have to admit, I think the Thornapples would be a big improvement over the Kardashians.

I’d be happy if all “reality” shows went away! But I’m wondering what Veeblefester would do if a camera crew followed Brutus into the office. Or how Gargoyle would act with cameras recording her. This could actually be spicy.

Chip, Brutus et al have been entertaining us for eons, so he and his belong to the celebrity reality show group of plain old boring people, let’s get him on the show (very funny by the way)…

My wife likes to watch the reality rubbish on free to air TV. I have said to her “Would you pay $14 to go to the local cinema to watch that?”. “NO WAY”. was her reply. I rest my case.
