Not sure why a 5/16" wrench would end up buried in the mud in the backyard.

This sounds a lot like a Dagwood scenario.

There are tools that should be buried, just on general principles.

I wonder if she finds him handsome because she obviously doesn’t find him handy.

Who uses SAE wrench sizes anymore? Almost everything is metric.

I once got a bit mad at my 11mm wrench while doing something in the garage. I threw it upward with considerable force. It never came down, and I couldn’t find it anywhere. Several YEARS later I found it on the garage floor.

I had someone steal a tool from my (fully fenced) backyard when I took a break inside. I went back out to continue the project, and looked everywhere it might be. Three years later, it was dropped into my front yard – I almost ran over it with the lawn mower.

there was one wrench that always disappeared from any set we owned; it was either 5/8 or 5/16" -which ever one that fit Schwinn bicycle wheels. Change tire, put wrench down not away…

Her reply should’ve been, “Well, where’s your 10/32 wrench? Why can’t ya use that?”
