This is Memorial Day. Veterans Day is in November.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:/ Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn./ At the going down of the sun and in the morning/ We will remember them.

Thank you veterans who made it home and a special thank you to the families of service members who did not make it home. Without the sacrifice of those service members, current members and veterans, we have nothing.

It actually honors both. Per flag etiquette: Why is the flag raised at noon on Memorial Day?On Memorial Day, the flag should be flown at half-mast from sunrise until noon. After noon, the flag should then be raised to full height from noon to sundown. This unique custom honors those who have died in war for the first half of the day and honors living veterans for the rest of the day.

Memorial Day was originally called Decoration day, meant for going to cemeteries to “decorate” the graves of fallen servicemen.
