when I was growing up my mom use to threaten to get the pancake turner if we didn’t misbehaved or didn’t do what she told us to do. In a family of 8 kids we never did find out what she was going to do with the pancake turner. I also remember a charicter in the wheel of time book series who would always ask for several random items when someone would refuse to answer his questions. Every time a prisoner heard him asking for a bunch of random items they’d get terrified and start confessing to whatever they’d done. One time someone asked the guy what he was going to do with those random items and he admitted that he had no idea, but whatever the prisoner imagined he was going to do with the items was enough to make them talk.

Or else don’t, but don’t expect any perks or favors. Those are EARNED.

I grew up with the “or else” threat. Trust me, you don’t want to find out the hard way.
