The only reason I have not saved this specific comic to my favorites, is that I think I have very likely previously done so. Just SO GOOD. One of the best Rob & Bucky conversations ever.
Hauntingly beautiful. Japanese music traditionally uses a 5 toned scale. Western ears expect a tonic-dominant relationship (that sense of tension and release, like the end of a verse). The pentatonic scale allows any note to be ‘home’.
I remember this one when it ran in the papers. I clipped it and had it under my clear desk mat. This is at least the 3rd time around that I have seen it.

So the Marche Funèbre was just a fever dream? That must be why the Green Acres theme turns up in the middle.

It is slower than expected but a lovely melody.

I’ve read much worse from people who actually make a living writing music criticism.

Some of the things that Darby comes up with are hilarious, as in the description of Japan’s national anthem!

The world’s most bigoted creature isn’t a human. It’s a cat.

Calvin needs to replace Hobbes with Bucky. That would be a pair to write about! Endless stories!

I prefer the Brisbane Lions’ repurposing of the French National Anthem.

My brother has part of this plot printed out and taped to his bedroom door, the upcoming part about Peru and Belgium.
