Dear god Marcy. You were willing ot get your ENTIRE CENTER shut down to prove a point. Unless it was just Dana’s license which is still a lot of getting yourself fired to prove a point, but at least is a level of esclation I can respect.

If only an entire fire dept. could be called any time someone smokes… or more appropriately, Homeland Security, because smokers are chemical terrorists holding non-smokers hostage and making them (or at least me) deathly ill…

Someone explain to me why it’s Marcy that has the power to suspend the license instead of the fire department.

I guess we’re gonna have to find out where the fire actually WAS. Did Dana actually leave the room at any time? The candle was still burning when Marcy came in to evacuate her.

Hospital fires are no joke. We had fire drills all the time. It isn’t easy getting non-ambulatory people evacuated. First step is to evacuate horizontally to another wing behind fire doors. Evacuating vertically means carrying patients down stairwells. Yikes!

When I was in college a student died in a dorm fire started by a candle, so it is a real thing.

Not to be too picky, but battalion chiefs are just that, chiefs over a battalion, not an engine. Generally the highest ranking officer you’ll see on an engine would be a captain. Although I’ve seen exceptions, usually a battalion is a geographic area that includes several stations and has a chief over all of that. The battalion chief would be housed in a station, so you might say Battalion Chief 5 rolls out of Station 53, for example, but wouldn’t associate the battalion chief with a specific engine company. A battalion chief might have 10 or 15 engines under their command, although that number varies greatly by department.

It gets so boring that all family members have to be the greatest athletes, greatest doctors, greatest lawyers and fire chiefs. Who can be summoned on a whim and ordered to cancel a hospital license apparently.

Geez come where live and suspend our monopolistic hospital’s license. They are mismanaged and incompetent.
