Chomsky: Republican Party ‘most dangerous organisation on earth’

BBC Newsnight’s Evan Davis challenges academic and political activist Noam Chomsky, who argues the Republican Party is the most dangerous organisation in human history.

Dangerous?

Oh, come on.

That’s only because of hundreds of thousands of of covid deaths.

And all the deaths from mass shootings that happen almost daily and other gun violence that does happen daily.

And a violent attempt to overthrow the government of the United States.

It’s been a while, so we don’t count the 5,000 American soldier deaths, 32,000 or so other physical casualties, American contractor deaths and the hundreds of thousands of Iraqi deaths from the invasion of Iraq. And of course, other long term effects no longer apply either.

And the total disrespect for the rule of law is difficult to quantify, so that doesn’t count either.

How can anyone say they’re dangerous?

How come they don’t report the numbers of American soldiers that died in Afghanistan any more.

US citizens are dangerous animals.

They are vicious. Too bad they’re not extinct.

Elephants definitely the worst one

The other animals are acting according to their natures, there is no evil associated with that. The rabid elephant acts from evil intentions.

A little loose with the definition of “animals”… but, we get the point that republicans are dangerous.

An elephant is a strong and hard working animal that tends lovingly to its family and for the betterment of others as well. It also works together in difficult times to help all.

The animal portrayed is not an elephant. It is a fascist that only tends to the oligarchy and drags all others down further and further from having the fulfilling lives and the rewards that all have earned from life’s struggles

The first five are just doing what Mother Nature tells them is necessary to survive. The sixth is following a hateful, malicious ideology. The first five will leave you alone if you just stay away from them. The GQP will and is coming after you and your rights.

The ONLY people “left” in the shrinking republican party are the “scofflaws”, bigots, racists, and other “detritus” swept into the party by Nixon and Ailes and their “Southern Strategy” of the 70s and 50s.

Almost as dangerous as the elephant itself is the cleanup crew that follows behind.

The apex predator known as mankind is in their own class, far more dangerous and capable of mass destruction that none of the animals shown are capable of. It’s an unfair and gross disservice to these animals to group them together with certain members of the human race, regardless of political affiliation, nationality, race, ethnicity, etc.

They really need to drop the elephant. Elephants are very capable but only use violence for self defense. They’re family oriented without insisting that others follow their customs. Perhaps the shrew or wolverine?

The first five will leave you alone if you leave them alone. If you try to leave the last one alone it will steal everything, especially your freedoms, from you and give it to the already obscenely wealthy if you ignore it.

These Elephants are not animals. They are cockroaches.

I understand and agree with the sentiment here, but the scientist in me suggests that you’ve overlooked the most dangerous in terms of damage to human property and health. Believe it or not the last time I checked that was Deer. Bad habit of running across busy highways in the path of oncoming cars etc.

Replacing a picture of an elephant that can stomp villages into oblivion in retaliation of hunters has nothing to do with a poltical party.
