It’s perfectly feasible for normal people to do more than one thing in a day’s work. I admit that congress critters aren’t quite up to that standard, but they DO have staff.

Dealing with both at once isn’t hard. The same people aren’t usually involved in handling both.

Only a fool would expect Congress to fix ‘Climate Crisis’. They cannot even say what it is. It could be a simple matter of overpopulation and certainly isn’t as bad as we have been told for 40 years or we would already be doomed. I am not sure the typical TikTok user has much of value to offer China.

Most congressional staff are politically-correct people who are looking for a paycheck and not honest research or the truth; they have subjugated themselves to the dweeb in office.

I liked the news coverage of congressional reps accusing the CEO of TikTok of giving the Chinese info on TikTok users without any evidence whatsoever. The insulting part is that they get paid for this nonsense.

Oh, for goodness sake. I can’t believe that, this deep into the 21st Century, we still have people who apparently don’t understand the difference between weather and climate. Here’s the deal:

     • Weather is short-term; climate is long-term.

     • Weather is individual measurements; climate is average measurements.

     • Weather is what you get; climate is what you expect.

     • Weather is umbrellas; climate is ice ages.

     • Weather is the city council; climate is the United Nations.

     • Weather is 3 minutes on TV; climate is doctoral dissertations.

     • Weather comes and goes; climate just keeps on coming.

     • Weather change kills off individual plants and animals; climate change kills off entire species.

     • Weather is Angry Birds; climate is The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire.

Any American adult who doesn’t understand this by now must be:

    1) a social promotion from a special-ed class.

    2) working for a fossil-fuel company and whose salary depends on the public not wising up during her or his lifetime.

    3) deliberately disingenuous.

    4) a religious fanatic who buys into the 2000-year-old lie that their favorite dead guy is due back tomoro, having disappointed a hundred previous generations of True Believers because he’s been waiting especially for YOU to be around when it happens, because that’s how important YOU are!

These categories are not mutually exclusive.

The difference between being proactive and reactive. In general, humans are much “better” at the latter. Everybody knows some kid who is hooked to their phone. Probably many somebodies. See it, react to it (especially if you don’t understand it).

The impact of the climate crisis is much more abstract. Huge glaciers breaking off in Antarctica, increased strength/frequency of hurricanes/monsoons, a growing drought belt, etc. is often just ignored or labeled as “those peoples’” problem. Even when many see an increased number of climate refugees (worldwide), the “blame” is put on weak borders, free health care, etc. I think we ain’t seen nothing yet; this is just the tip of the (melting) iceberg.

There’s an old Klingon saying, “Only fools fight in a burning house.” Apparently, we are the fools; our house, our planet, is literally burning, and yet, we are fighting each other.

For anyone who thinks they need to worry about TikTok, the head of cybersecurity for the Electronic Frontier Foundation says you should not worry about TikTok compromising your privacy unless you are a government that considers the Chinese government an adversary.

Tim tok is sanctioned by a totalitarian Chinese government, where no citizen has a voice unless you are a part of that idea and then you have little or no voice and they are influenceing people around the world who don’t know this especially our younger people? With this in mind, I believe they should not be allowed on the internet without proper education of our younger children.
