Now hopefully Manhattan D.A. Alvin Bragg can move on to arresting and holding non-famous violent criminals that plague NYC.

Sadly this is a no lose for trump. IF he gets arrested, indicted, tried, AND convicted, at most he pays a fine (OK the republicon party pays it) and he walks out with his evil smirk declaring victory and exoneration. If ANY of those steps fail to happen he declares victory and more smirking. He uses this, win or lose, to incite his followers about how HE’S the victim and the evil left wing rebel alliance are abusing poor little DJT because they know what a winner he is. There’s no jail time here. This is the smallest and weakest of all of the potential indictments against him and when the dust from this settles, especially if he beats it, it undercuts all the others that might happen. Worse, if this becomes the clown show we know it will it may dissuade others from following up on the actual serious charges he should be facing.

I get the “they got Capone on tax evasion” argument but this guy led an insurrection against the American government while he was sitting in the white house and the best we can do is, he payed off a p@rn star to keep her mouth shut? This is right up there with the Lewinsky case for weak kneed prosecutions.

If, as is likely, this either fails to get a conviction or gets one and then he walks away like it was a parking ticket, I’m betting every other investigation gets shelved.

And, of course, Gym Jordan has issued a subpoena to the Manhatten DA over this to answer to the House Juciciary committee. Surprised the man can breath consodering where lips are still firmly affixed.

We will see how it goes! I’ll believe it when I see it!

The desperate coward is relying on the white supremests to save his A$$! Will they come thru or will they have learned he just uses them and throws them under the bus when he’s done?

Better provide this man and his family a security detail….

It appears that this won’t go down until next week. Law enforcement is trying to take necessary precautions to prevent a “civil” war.

Attorney General Garland is a feckless coward! Otherwise Trump would already be tried and convicted of far more serious crimes!

Personally, I find nothing to celebrate in this potential indictment. Or if he’s charged in any of the other five active cases. While necessary (NO ONE is above the law), it’s a potential tragedy for this country. Trump has lived his whole life skirting the edges of the law. He has lied, stalled, bullied, used NDAs, plead the fifth (his right, certainly) and grifted his way through his life.

The fact that so many who care so much about him would not have that care reciprocated one iota by the ex-president is an absurdity beyond belief. An absurdity topped only by the claim by so many supporting him that they’re for “law and order”. While I take heart that some GOP members are distancing themselves from him, I don’t believe it’s a critical mass and fear this knee-jerk tribalism will lead this country to unimaginable consequences.

While Trump is a putz and should just go away, this is just another in a very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very long line of hope-getters for the left that have all seemed to fall flat in the face of reality.

Russia collusion was a hoax. The dossier from the Clinton Campaign was a hoax. Nothing has stuck. Not saying he is or isn’t guilty of it, but nothing has ever seemed to stick legally.

Believe it when I see it. It is POTENTIALLY an indictment. An indictment is a long way from a trial, which is a long way from a conviction. As it has been famously said, “a grand jury would indict a ham sandwich if that’s what you wanted.”

The charges from the NYC DA are a huuuuge legal stretch and not based on the law (there is zero precedent for what the DA is attempting to do here) but on the person. Do you want a weaponized judicial system that decides who to prosecute based on political values rather than the law? Bragg ran on a promise to get Trump. That along with Soros $$$ got him elected in 90%+ democrat NYC. The only risk Bragg runs is if he doesn’t go after Trump. He’s politically motivated and will be rewarded for it regardless of the outcome. He’s making a name for himself, and I guaranty he will soon run for Governor of NY or for one of the Senate seats, and soon after that he’ll throw his hat into the presidential candidacy ring.

Another indication that this is about Trump and politics rather than the law will be how they arraign him. NY allows for virtual arraignments, and they do them every day for much more serious crimes that what they cooked up for Trump. It’s basically a zoom call with the perp sitting in his attorney’s office on one end and the DA’s people on the other. If they insist on him traveling to NYC so they can have all those lovely visuals of Trump arriving and maybe even a perp-walk, it’s only because of who it is.

You can indict a ham sandwich, and you may be able to get a jury to convict that ham sandwich if they all hate ham sandwiches (and they do in NYC!), but if the law doesn’t support the charges and conviction, expect it to be overturned. Sorry, folks, this case is incredibly weak. Maybe GA will get him?

Are you saying that dealing with a crook who cheated his way to the presidency is not important?

Notice how Republicans like this aren’t claiming Trump is innocent, just that he shouldn’t be prosecuted. They love protecting the guilty.
