But it’s amazing how long our bodies continue healing. My mother-in-law broke her femur in her mid-nineties, requiring about 90 stitches, and she healed up like a teenager. And when she bent the metal rod they implanted, she healed up another 90 stitches.

Apparently Gladys’s cooking and the diner food agree with our hero. But beware Brutus – in a few years you’ll not only be growing out you’ll be growing down. I’ve lost well over an inch in height and I was never tall to begin with!

It’s a club so many of us join as we get older, so we are in good company, whether we like it or not. Plus as you get older, our meals are something we look forward to more than earlier in life…..

I have heard it phrased, “We stop growing at the ends and start growing in the middle.” Our bones ossify by age 21, so that is when we stop getting taller and start to spread out.
