MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough ridiculed the Republican “jackases” who posed with rifles pointed toward the sky in response to a Chinese spy balloon flying across the country. President Joe Biden eventually ordered the balloon shot down off the coast of South Carolina to prevent debris from posing a hazard to people on the ground, but that wasn’t soon enough for many Republicans.

There’s an awful lot of speculation going on and very few of those commenting here have all the facts (nor do I). Apparently, though, contrary to all the blustering here, Biden DID order the balloon shot down early on and, on the advice of his military people (who had actual knowledge, unlike all the bozos blustering here), was convinced to wait. I believe that 1. This was likely not about intelligence-gathering at all, there really wasn’t much intel it could get that wasn’t available from their “legal” satellites. I suspect that impulsively shooting it down early on might have been the expected impulsive response. 2. The military people (again armed with actual facts) decided that even shooting it down in sparsely populated Montana would spread the debris over a very wide and inhospitable field, also possibly damaging it enough to make it impossible to analyze. 3. That the military was able to keep whatever info was being transmitted from getting through by jamming or whatever. and 4. That we should wait until the thing is retrieved and analyzed before we bluster further…. it still could turn out that it really WAS a weather instrument.

All this propaganda coming from those that do not understand the electronic communications capabilities of the balloon’s array was easily disabled with one flyby of an electronic warfare aircraft. Then brought down, still within our airspace, when the safety of American citizens and property would not be compromised. Please explain now who has the empty head.

So is this a Gorrell self-portrait? At least three Chinese balloons were over U.S. airspace during Trump’s occupancy at the White House but of course that was ignored by the ignorant.
