Today’s cartoon depicts serious storm damage happening in the “neighbothood” of this paper. It also depicts an image of new House Speaker Kevin McCarthy with a caption featuring his recent remarks about “preserving” fossil fuel industries. The apparent message is roughly that his policies, if put into effect, will bring more and worse disastrous weather.

Face it, our way of life is doomed. Our future will be determined by how well we adapt to the climate we’ve made, not by how well we can quit screwing it up. And don’t even think about how us cleaning up our own mess. 1000’s of species will be extinct, thanks to our deliberate ignorance. We’ll be lucky if we can save ourselves. Let’s hope the living won’t envy the dead.

What’s with the censorship. Did I fly into Iran/China/Russia/(pick from many) overnight?

Techie guess, the file was corrupted. Either the original was damaged or it happened when posting to comics. Think of a printed page, with half of the page jammed in the printer.

I once sent a document to the UPS label printer. Looked like microfiche.

The cartoon shows a rendition of the damage at Santa Cruz from the series of atmospheric rivers that have hit CA. It’s a pretty accurate imaging from the photos I saw of it, and it’s pretty much assured to be due to AGW effects in a long term La Nina period, which should be gone by next year—-but it will be back after the next El Nino. Welcome to the world of today.

Which is why we need to transition to nonfossil burning vehicles. However, it must be done in a way that hurts poor people or the middle class. More electric cars are becoming available, but they have their limitations. Especially, when it comes to towing ability, for those that need or for recreation, want to tow trailers. Many people don’t have a garage to park their car into charge, or a place to plug into at work, yet. That will take time. I’m reasonable that way, it’s the let’s keep doing this until we use up the entire resource idiots that will be the end of us.
