This new Repub party, dubbed the GQP, might not be so much in lockstep and show some real division, like the Dems. It should be interesting. But, like the old Repubs, they’ll waste time going after Biden with his son’s laptop and the stashed away secret documents Joe’s lawyers turned over to government.
One can only hope a fatal bite occurs. It’s time for the Republican Party to take down the “big tent” and let the crazies have their own political party
House Republicans slammed for voting to help ‘wealthy individuals’ avoid paying ‘the taxes they owe’
After Rep. Kevin McCarthy finally prevailed in his uphill battle to become House speaker, the new Republican majority in the U.S. House of Representatives was officially seated. House Republicans, on Monday, January 9, voted in favor of cutting Internal Revenue Service (IRS) funding — a vote that the Charlotte Observer’s editorial board lambasts in an editorial published the following day. All U.S. House Republicans serving via districts in North Carolina, the board notes, voted in favor of cutting the funding.“ Carved in stone above the main entrance to the Internal Revenue Service Building in Washington, D.C., is this quote from a Supreme Court opinion written by Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr.: ‘Taxes are what we pay for a civilized society,’” the Observer’s editorial board writes. “Now, it appears Republican U.S. House members think that a civilized society — a just, equitable and compassionate society — is not worth that price. That’s the only way to read their vote on Monday to rescind nearly $71 billion of the $80 billion in additional funding that Congress provided the Internal Revenue service (IRS) under the Inflation Reduction Act. The investment will help ensure that businesses and wealthy individuals pay the taxes they owe.”
Dr. Oz’s failed Senate campaign is $27 million in debt — and he owes most of it to himself
On Wednesday, incoming Raw Story editor-in-chief Dave Levinthal flagged a previously-unreported statistic in Federal Election Commission campaign filings for Dr. Mehmet Oz, the Trump-backed celebrity TV host who ran unsuccessfully for Senate in Pennsylvania last year.“Mehmet Oz ended 2022 with his U.S. Senate campaign committee more than $27 million (!) in debt, per a new FEC filing,” Levinthal reported on Twitter. Furthermore, he added, “Most of the money is owed to Oz himself, and it’s unlikely Oz will recoup much (or any) of it.”

That’s not real is it? Who would bite the nice elephant? Surely not the elephant itself.

You embraced the snake when you thought it would help your numbers, then found out it’s still a venomous viper and will bite anything in range.

Repubs in the House are like a slow motion train wreck. Horrible to watch but hard to tear one’s eyes away.

Sixty years ago Theodore White said the two main elements of the GOP party act like fratricidal twins. This has never been truer.
