The gavel probaly has a rubber hammer. If McCarthy was smart he would not put any of the thing he agreed to into the rules. It not like he never lied before

    Reforms?

So far, those reforms are secret.

    .

And House Republicans have NO agenda, other than investigate and impeach.

And that’s exactly what they’ll deliver.

why is the other side labeled “rules reforms” and not “house freedom caucus”? they are the ones in control of the gavel not the vague idea of rules

You can see the line where Gorell added the copy-paste gavel head to the other end. World’s laziest cartoonist.

Evidently.. contrary to all the rhetoric about needing transparency.. the rules for the house package had a hidden addendum.

Looks kinda like a dumbbell, which is entirely appropriate for the House Republican caucus.

Did any of you stay up to watch the final vote and the handing over of the gavel? I did and I found the difference between the speeches of the Democrat Jeffries and Speaker McCarthy notable.

Jeffries went on about how wonderful he and the Democrat party is, all of the great things they have done (mostly lies and distortions) and how they have made things better for the American people (not). It was basically a “me, Me, ME!” speech.

McCarthy on the other hand, spoke about America and it’s roots as a republic. He addressed Lincoln as a liberator and how he shaped the values of the nation. The Speaker related the marvelous history behind the portrait of “Washington Crossing the Delaware” that I had not known. His entire speech was about America, it’s history, it’s people and going forward to a better future, not the Republicans or himself.

Sadly, Gorrell will probably have much to cheer in the “McCarthy-led” Congress … like increasing the deficit by hindering Tax Law enforcement!

And to think, I found Hakeem’s speech to be spot on as he referenced both sides based on their past proclivities. To be fair, I will go back and listen to what Mr. ’I’ll promise you anything’ said.

Mc Carthy is merely reinstating many of the rules written by Thomas Jefferson. Such as one member may call for a vote to replace the Speaker. Pelosi raised it to 100. So as to keep the Democrat members in lockstep goosestep.
