I think you all missed the point. She was paying in card, because no one carrys cash these days how can you give even if you want to, so the store takes it in for Bob. Hence, the thumbs up " I got your back, Merry Christmas"
Often I see someone outside the store in need of help, but since I don’t have any cash I buy whatever and get a few dollars cash out.Many times the person I was going to give it to has disappeared!So at least I have cash for the next person,

Like almost all charities you never know how many fingers are in the till. If you want to give money to Bob just give it to him.

preferably we should be neighbors helping neighbors. When we get the middle man involved problems grow larger.

The last street person I gave cash to was a man standing in front of the liquor store saying he needed some booze. I applauded his honesty.
Now I just give the money to charities.
