It would be great if all of those fantasies came to pass Ted. I would add one more fantasy. The demolition of the electoral college. One man/person one vote.
Remember, every republican who’s in office is there because a democratic opponent was incompetent at a politician’s only job: getting elected. If democrats were not indefatigably lame, the republican party would barely exist. The coming permanent republican ‘government’ and the end of the pretense of democracy in the US is the fault of the democrats’ offering nothing but “we’re not the republicans” for the past generation or more. Stop complaining, you voted for this.
When it comes to election day, I have to vote for the best choice offered, even if it’s not the best I can imagine. If I’m not satisfied with the choices, election day is too late to do anything about it. In between elections, I’ve got two years (or four years) to change things so there will be a real choice on the ballot with a realistic chance of winning. Politics is about more than voting day.
Here in Ontario the education workers (not teachers, who are in a different union, but all other education workers) were about to go on strike, but the Conservative government has invoked what’s called the Notwithstanding Clause in order to legislate the workers back to work; that’s even though the right to strike is constitutionally guaranteed. I don’t believe that an NDP government would have gone this far; probably not the Liberals either (though I don’t trust them much). To me, this is a demonstration that the parties are different. The NDP is not my ideal, and certainly not the Liberals, but either would be better than the Conservatives, who are using big government power to impose their will on the workers.
Unfortunately I have to agree to an extent with this cartoon. While Democrats are promoting what’s possible and dream big, Republicans pragmatically plot like a military operation and they aren’t afraid to destroy the country to in their minds, save it.
Everyone on this page pretending that this comic is not telling the truth can answer the following question: after 30 years of Democrats insisting that — win or lose — every election is a signal to appeal to more republicans for votes, can you NOT see how dramatically that strategy has failed us all?
When Bill Clinton started employing the “move to the center” tactic, Dems controlled 30+ states from top to bottom, in addition to majorities in Congress. Today, republicans almost literally own the whole country, and yet some of you will not let go of the notion that they can be appealed to in order to get things we allegedly need like voting rights, abortion rights, and free and fair elections. Instead you’d rather pretend the Left is always wrong, because that’s the only thing you’ve been fed by people who continue to lose badly at every level of politics, and you all call that “winning” for some dumb reason.
i’m pleased that our high schools are doing such an admirable job of educating and enlightening our future political cartoonist! If you manage to graduate you might even find a career in writing propaganda for the NY Times! I wish you well on your path to being a first rate ….something.

I have no hope. I have no fear. I am free. I vote because it always seems a good idea at the time … as does living.

The fantasy, Ted, is believing and supporting the Racist, bigoted, misogynistic Republican Party.
The Republican fantasy that stripping women of the right to bodily autonomy will stop abortions.
The Republican fantasy that taking the knee to the oil industry will help restore our economy.
The Republican fantasy that stripping Social Security and Medicare will improve the lives of Americans.
The Republican fantasy that guns make us all safer.
The Republican fantasy that being subservient to the christian Taliban is God’s will for every American, christian or not.
Our country deserves better than Republican fantasies.

Let’s compare all that with the Republican’s fundamental beliefs in Q-Anon.
