If professional sports didn’t offer obscene ridiculous amounts of money the amateur sports venues wouldn’t have the incentive to favor athletics over academics. Football, basketball, and baseball are paying their players so much that middle America has to take out a mortgage to afford tickets. Insanity!

Yeah, what a shame. Hardly a cent spent on college athletes and athletics.

NCAA. For people who think that professional sports isn’t corrupt enough.

The same cartoon could be used for corporate executives and employees. Or congressmen and voters.

Isn’t it time to put that money into academics and make sports the sideshow they should be.

Maye it’s time to admit that a great many ‘student’ athletes are not students in any meaningful sense, that college teams are actually the minor leagues for many players who see their university playing experience as serving the apprenticeship needed to be called up to ‘the big show’.
