Maybe too many saw the Disney film and winced at the depiction of the Native Americans.

umm…please explain the significance of the year 1893. The play Peter Pan was written by J. M. Barrie in 1904 and was based on a minor character in a book Barrie wrote in 1902.

Kids had probably stopped thinking Peter Pan was cool by 1963 – that being 10 years after the Disney movie.

I suppose the under-10 crowd might still be into Peter Pan from reading bedtime stories, but not likely. Captain Hook, on the other hand, still seems to be a popular character in shows like Jake and the Neverland Pirates.
