trumpster fire could have worked with this guy, right? I mean he had “Infrastructure Week,” where we talked about fixing the country’s infrastructure…………………………for a week…………………..maybe just 6 days.
Tensions on nukes are reaching levels seen during the Cuban Missile crisis. A USSR sub was actually ordered to use nukes against U.S. warships but the commander refused, averting all out nuclear war. This is the time when mistakes can be made with horrible repercussions.
Russia has few friends at this time. I’m pretty sure that China and India, for just two examples, would be pretty unhappy about radiation clouds moving over their countries. He can’t afford to alienate the few people who can help him by buying energy and supplying chips and weapons that he does not have the capacity to manufacture.
He may not care about the rest of the world, but he does care about himself and his legacy.
As much as he might really want to use nukes, he knows he’s bluffing.
Putin has already demonstrated an “If we can’t have it, no one can” mentality. If pushed into what he thinks is a corner, he’s very likely to flash a Ukrainian city, probably Kiev. Whether another country will respond with nukes is a crapshoot at best.
Remember when Gen Milley contacted his Russian counterpart during the last, chaotic few weeks of the Trump Presidency? Basically told him that, Even if the red button gets pushed, no missiles will be launched. Hopefully, that counterpart is now contacting Miley.

I’m actually worried about this. I hope Deering and I are both proven wrong.

It would be ironic if his missiles performed as well as his army did.

A few years back, Putin said in an interview, “why do we need a world if there is no Russia in it?”

If Putin ends the world as we know it quickly, or if we allow him to do it slowly… which would be “worse”?

I feel much more existential dread over what the US ruling class is doing. Apparently, they WANT nuclear war.
Anyway, if Putin is willing to destroy the entire planet if Russia is pushed too far, isn’t the sane response is to stop pushing?
