It’s called childhood amnesia and everyone has it. Studies have show that children as young as 8 can’t remember significant events that happened just a few years earlier. Completely forgetting a family vacation is a classic example. We don’t lose all our early childhood memories, but most of them slip away.
I went to Hawaii when I was five. My dad took me kayaking in the ocean; we tipped over repeatedly and he kept hauling me out of the water by the handle on my life vest. I hated getting all that salt water in my face. Unfortunately, that is the only thing I remember about the trip.

Never take young children to places they will not remember. It’s a waste of money.

We took our 10 yo and 5 yo sons to our once-in-a-lifetime obligatory trip to Disney World 30 years ago. The younger one barely remembers it.
